..."And all you can do is go to where they can find you" ~ Winnie-the-Pooh

I think it is a shame that capes are no longer the height of fashion. By this I mean all capes, not just the warm ones which had practical purpose to them, but the light and airy ones which offer no warmth, just the effect of fashion drama while making the wearer feel elegant and ready for a quest at a moment's notice. (Yes, I do make this observation as I sit wearing my new, thin and very impractical cape which floats so prettily about my shoulders when I walk and therefore shall not be a piece of clothing I will be removing any time soon.)

I am torn today. I am working hard to get caught up on school which I got behind on due to overwhelming anxiety at work. I also need to clean my house and feed the zoo - those not coming with me - before tomorrow as I will be gone until Sunday afternoon. I have much to do, but all I really want to do is sit at my old typewriter with my cape about my shoulders and write. I find myself very creative all the sudden. (Hence the quote for this post, one taken from when Winnie-the-Pooh was creating a hum and needing to go to be where the hum could find him.) It does not help that the very dashing Highwayman, Keelan, is back with more information for his book.

I find it odd being out of work again. When it first happened last year I was sad and, also as a result of being supposedly deathly sick, unable to focus on anything or accomplish much. This time, even though I am sad to leave my co-workers, I feel more prepared as to what to expect and what I would like to accomplish with the extra time. That is all to start next week though, for as I mentioned earlier I have to get caught up on school reading the rest of this week.

During this term in school I am taking five classes. There is a history course, Archaeology, ground flight school, ASL III, and watercolor. (Almost every term I get to take an art class of some form since I am getting my degree through the arts and not math.) I have enjoyed the classes so far, but reading through Archaeology has brought up memories of Belize and my month in the jungle nearly two years ago now. I will see Belize mentioned, or sites I visited on days we were not digging, and long to go back. Today I saw a picture of one of the temples we visited, there are three temples at the site and we climbed them during our exploration. We climbed to the top of the highest one and watched the vultures circle overhead us as we looked out over the jungle and to the river which flowed between Belize and Mexico. I even find myself missing the bugs - yes, even the chiggers I had in my hands the whole month I was there. I hope to return there someday. I would really like to dig at the second site which was discovered, the one which lay at the bottom of a steep and muddy slope, across rickety bridges of cut down jungle trees, and through the field of spikey bamboo infested with deadly snakes.

Until then I will return to study and writing, and preparing for a quest worthy of my flaring cape.
